**The Travel Max plan was discontinued by Travelex Insurance Services in November 2017.**
From Travelex Insurance, the Travel Max insurance plan is a comprehensive trip insurance package that protects you in the event of medical emergencies and travel delays or cancellations. It offers a significant amount of coverage to protect your investment in travel luxuries, such as car rental insurance and flight accident coverage.
Medical and Evacuation Benefits
The Travel Max plan includes emergency medical expenses and evacuation benefits. These provide coverage for emergency medical assistance if you, your family members or your pets are injured or become ill while you are traveling. It also provides coverage for a medical evacuation to the nearest hospital of your choice. Other evacuation and repatriation services are covered as well.
If you buy this package within 30 days of making the initial trip deposit, pre-existing medical conditions will be qualified for coverage. In addition, this travel insurance package includes accidental death and dismemberment benefits, which cover the loss of life, limbs or sight as the result of an accident during your trip or while you are flying.
Travel Delays, Cancellations and Interruptions
If your trip is delayed for at least five hours, the Travel Max package will reimburse you for unexpected accommodation, Internet usage, kennel care, food and transportation needs. It will also reimburse you for non-refundable, prepaid costs if your travel plans are cancelled or interrupted. If you miss a cruise connection by at least three hours, the package affords reimbursement for additional, non-refundable costs such as accommodations, food and transport. Some of the eligible reasons for reimbursement include airline delays and cancellations, documented passport or visa theft, hijackings, inclement weather, jury duty, pregnancy, subpoena and terrorist acts.
Additionally, your personal possessions and expenses are covered if your luggage is damaged, lost, stolen or delayed for at least 12 hours. This includes an allowance to rent sporting equipment.
Along with flight accident coverage for each person, this trip insurance plan covers collision damage for car rentals. There is also an optional upgrade that will allow you to recover up to 75 percent of your trip costs if you cancel at least two days before departure. Furthermore, you can recover up to 100 percent of your costs if you decide to cancel after missing 30 percent or more of the trip because of eligible delays.
Despite the comprehensive benefits in the Travel Max insurance plan from Travelex, it may not offer all of the coverage that you need for your trip. It’s important to compare travel insurance plans before buying to ensure that the risks associated with your specific travel activities are included. It’s also recommended that you read the terms and conditions for exclusions and limitations before purchasing a plan.
