The Trip Protector Lite package from Travel Insured International provides basic travel insurance that covers an extensive range of reasons customers might cancel their trip. This plan also offers limited coverage for emergency medical expenses and travel delays, and customers can easily upgrade to more comprehensive insurance plans if they decide they want extra protection before their trip. Trip Protector Lite only covers trips that last 30 days or less.
Prospective travelers should weigh the pros and cons of each plan and always carefully read over the terms and conditions of their chosen policy before making a purchase.
Trip Protector Lite Benefits
The Trip Protector Lite plan guarantees customers a 100 percent reimbursement up to $10,000 on trips that are cancelled or interrupted due to covered reasons such as natural disasters, terrorism, hospitalization of a host, labor strikes, traffic accidents or loss of employment. Fees incurred for changing flights are covered up to $250.
Costs incurred from travel delays of 12 hours or greater can be reimbursed up to $100 per day with a $300 maximum. Customers who miss a connecting flight can receive up to $300, and travelers who experience a baggage delay of more than 24 hours are eligible for $200 to cover unexpected expenses. If baggage is completely lost, customers may receive up to $750 to cover their losses.
Additionally, the plan provides up to $10,000 in reimbursement for medical expenses minus a $50 deductible. Unexpected dental services are covered up to $750. Expenses related to emergency evacuations are reimbursable up $100,000. Trip Protector Lite policy holders can call Travel Insured International for 24/7 assistance.
Optional Upgrades for Trip Protector Lite
Trip Protector Lite enrollees can purchase upgrades such as a ‘cancel for work reasons’ option for more flexibility. For a small fee, customers may also double their limit for medical and evacuation expenses, add $25,000 worth of coverage to car rentals and obtain flight-only accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Trip Protector Lite Limitations
Trip Protector Lite does not cover medical expenses associated with preexisting health conditions, nor does it provide base coverage for AD&D. Travelers cannot be reimbursed for canceled trips unless the reason for cancellation meets the conditions of the policy, and the customer must provide documentation such as doctor’s bills to receive payment.
