For over 30 years, APRIL has been providing simple and flexible insurance solutions to its customers. With everything going on in today’s world, APRIL Travel Protection has created a plan specifically for customers who are worried that Covid-19 may affect their travel plans.
APRIL Pandemic Plus Plan
The Pandemic Plus Plan is a great solution for travelers who are worried that contracting Covid-19 may interrupt their travel plans, given that contracting a virus during a pandemic isn’t excluded from trip cancellation, trip interruption and emergency medical coverage. This insurance plan also allows travelers to purchase Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage, which allows them to cancel their trip for any reason at all, which is important during these uncertain times. While the Pandemic Plus Plan will allow for trip cancellation or trip interruption benefits if the traveler contracts Covid-19 before or during their trip, CFAR is important since it will allow travelers to cancel for other reasons such as travel bans and fears or worries about traveling, which are otherwise excluded from standard coverage.
Travel insurance is always important, but a pandemic complicates travel even further and adds significantly more financial risk to the situation. By enrolling in the Pandemic Plus Plan, travelers can remove the worry associated with having to cancel or change travel arrangements at the last minute due to contracting Covid-19.
Pandemic Plus Plan Benefits
This travel insurance plan offers a wide variety of benefits, including:
- Trip Cancellation Coverage – 100%
- Trip Interruption Coverage – 150%

Additional Optional Upgrades in Coverage
Upon purchasing the Pandemic Plus Plan, policyholders are able to upgrade the plan to include the Trip Cancellation for Any Reason benefit. This benefit allows policyholders to be reimbursed for 75% of their trip costs in the event that they need to cancel the trip altogether, regardless of reason. Please note that this option is only available if purchased within 21 days or less of the initial trip payment date and only if 100% of pre-paid and non-refundable trip costs are insured.
This benefit brings peace of mind to APRIL customers, who know that these uncertain times may mean an unexpected change of plans at the last minute.
Pandemic Plus Plan Limitations
Age Limit: Anyone from the age of 18 to 84 years of age is able to purchase the Pandemic Plus Plan. Children may be added to the plan, but at least one person on the plan must be over the age of 18 to serve as the primary policyholder.
Days of Travel: Customers with this plan are insured for up to 90 days of consecutive travel.
Trip Cost: The maximum cost for a trip is $25,000 per policyholder.
Services Included with the Pandemic Plus Plan
Stress Less Benefits: This benefit allows APRIL policyholders to completely avoid the usually cumbersome process of going through claims reimbursement. Instead, customers are able to call, email, live chat, video call, or text with APRIL employees when an insurable event occurs on their trip.
During the call or chat, APRIL will quickly set up and pay for whatever covered service is needed, including changed flights, hospital visits, evacuations, hotel accommodations, and more. Benefits are available and applied right away, so policyholders don’t have to wait during their travel, when plans may need to change rapidly or need immediate attention.
24-Hour Assistance: If you encounter an issue with identity theft, lost luggage, medical assistance, or other pressing matters covered by the Pandemic Plus Plan, APRIL representatives can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
APRIL understands how important it is to address these issues right away; there is never a time when policyholders will be unable to reach a representative to discuss insurance benefits and secure assistance with changing their travel plans accordingly.
Due to the complications associated with Covid-19, APRIL will not insure travelers who are visiting known virus hot-spots, including China, Italy, and other heavily affected countries. This may change as certain areas or countries become more or less affected by the spread of Covid-19.
APRIL also does not offer the Pandemic Plus Plan to travelers visiting Ukraine, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan.
Travel to all other countries and areas is covered in this plan.
It is important to note that, despite APRIL’s own exclusions, travel bans to certain areas continue to pop up and change over time as the spread of the virus continues to develop. APRIL asks that their customers be aware of any travel bans in place at their destination country before purchasing the Pandemic Plus Plan, as the insurance company will not reimburse for trips canceled because of government-enforced travel bans in those situations.
